GIBB’s Transport Services Sector provides a comprehensive range of services that include traditional consulting services (design, procurement and contract supervision), Public Private Partnership (PPP) solutions and asset management services. This includes high capacity freeways, interchanges and bridges, airport pavements, rural roads (including low volume and haul roads) and municipal infrastructure. The team is supported by transportation and traffic engineers, geotechnical and material engineers and other specialists.

This Sector is looking for another talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Senior Traffic and Transport Engineer. We welcome your application if you believe you meet the requirements for this position.

Core Purpose:

Independently leading and providing technical input and direction to project team(s) on traffic and transportation planning projects.

Contributing to growing the traffic engineering and transportation planning technical capability and capacity in line with the GIBB strategy

Key Performance areas:

oTechnical responsibility for projects in a sector, region or business unit.
oMonitoring and controlling technical outputs of junior staff members.
oProvide clients with technical advice.
oUndertake thought leader activities – presenting papers, publish technical documents.
oLead and undertake technical reviews.
oProvide input into proposals for tenders, bids for project pipeline – technical inputs, resources inputs.
oTrain and mentor junior staff.

oFirst degree – BSc/BEng/BTech
oProfessional – PrEng/PrTech (ECSA)


o10 years after qualification
oAll levels minimum of ten years recognised experience in the transportation field.
oModelling using AIMSUN, SATURN or similar
oCompetence in carrying out Traffic Impact Assessments from micro to macro scale
