About this role

The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for managing the GIBB Group Network and to provide IT infrastructure (hardware and software) support for the day to day running of the GIBB Group of companies. They will also be responsible for the management of disaster recovery and business continuity processes.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make use of your proficiency in:

Operating Systems
• Clustered systems and clustered storage (DRBD)
• VMWare, KVM and HyperV virtualisation
• Windows Server 2003/2008 R2/2012 R2
• Windows 7/8/10

IP Telephony
• CISCO Call manager 10.x
• SIP Trunks
• CISCO IM and Presence

• Layer 2 and layer 3 design, implementation and troubleshooting
• Routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP as well as static routing tables
• Policy based routing and route-maps
• Quality of Service
• Monitoring and fault detection
• VLAN tagging
• DHCP and DNS
• VPN Tunneling
• TCP/IP (v4)
• WiFi controllers

Management Tools
Network monitoring Cisco/Nagios/Cacti, etc
LDAP/Active Directory.

Scripting and the command line
•Bash and Bash Scripting, regular expressions.
• Windows command line and Powershell
• Cisco CLI

Security (Firewalls)
• iptables

Email systems
Postfix, IMAP servers.
Anti-spam technologies.

•Matric with maths at Higher Grade
•B.Sc. Computer Science or equivalent
•MCSE or equivalent
•CCNA RS (with track for CCNP/CCIE)
•CCNA Voice (with track for CCNP/CCIE Voice)

•Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
•In-depth knowledge of Server (LINUX as well asWindows) operation systems and hardware
•Advanced Networking knowledge
•Advanced IP Telephony knowledge
•Advanced Windows Server knowledge
•Excellent Windows Desktop support skills
•Some programming/scripting/task automation experience would be an advantage
