You will work within the Research & Monitoring Unit of the Council, and will report to the General Manager. As the Senior Researcher, you will provide advanced statistical analytical services to support the Research & Monitoring unit in the execution of its projects.

You will also be responsible for the following:

Involvement in the collection, management and analyses of Annual Statutory Return Data for the utilisation section of the Annual Report of CMS:

- Industry engagement, Design data-specifications for the collection of data,
- Evaluation and analysis of the data, and
- Report writing,

Involvement in research and support projects for the unit:

- Take the lead in research projects (prevalence of chronic conditions, measuring patient experience, measuring the value proposition of network benefit options, etc.),
- Provide technical and statistical support to other projects within the unit and within CMS upon request,
- Undertake applied health economics analyses of health policy and health systems as it relates to private healthcare reforms, and

Stakeholder engagement and technical analysis on private healthcare pricing issues.
The successful candidate will have the following key competencies and skills:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Statistics or Health Economics or Econometrics or Actuarial sciences or relevant qualification;

Knowledge and experience in analysis of insurance industry will be an added advantage;

Three (3) years of working experience in a Managed Healthcare and/or Medical Scheme environment;

Data management and modelling experience, specifically in the analysis of membership and claims data in the private medical scheme environment;

Project management experience;

Outstanding quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills;

Ability to handle all stages in the full cycle of a research project;

Ability to work well independently, with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment;

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers; and

Solid working proficiency in SAS and Excel or other statistical software and analytical tools.
