•Planting and maintaining plants destined for screening trials.
•Collect and test plant / seed samples for pathogens.
•Seed sample preparation for testing.
•Media and buffer preparation.
•Culture maintenance and inoculum production.
•Inoculation and disease evaluation of various types of pathogens on a variety of plants.
•Take inventory and order laboratory supplies and reagents.
•Conduct general housekeeping chores on a daily basis.
•Wash/sanitize equipment used.
•National Diploma in Microbiology
•Basic understanding of Plant Pathology test procedures
•Computer skills (MS word, Excel, Internet, E-Mail, Outlook)
•Well developed understanding of laboratory processes and equipment
