Introduction
To develop and manage a portfolio of (Natural Resources) innovation projects through the relevant technology readiness levels (TRL) towards commercialisation

Specification
•Assist the Natural Resources team to develop unit strategies, operational plans and budgets for EXCO and Board approval
•Identify new funding opportunities and perform technical due diligence assessments on applications for funding
•Assist applicants with their applications such that suitable recommendations for funding can be submitted to the relevant approving authorities (e.g. EXCO)
•Manage and monitor technology development projects to ensure the timeous disbursement of funding for optimal execution of innovation projects
•Manage repayment obligations that projects have to TIA (e.g. equity, royalties and loan obligations)
•Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, frameworks and fund management systems
•Ensure timeous and accurate reporting on progress of portfolio projects
•Facilitate commercialisation of technology development projects and raising of additional funding from third party investors
•Build an effective eco system of key stakeholders and expertise around the portfolio of TIA’s Natural Resources innovation projects.
•Build a pipeline of investment opportunities for the strategic technology areas
•Identify and implement solutions to ensure continuous improvement of work effectiveness and efficiency in the management of portfolio projects
Requirements
•A 4 year Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science
•A business related qualification will be an added advantage
•A Masters degree in Engineering will be an added advantage
•3 years of experience in a Natural Resources research, development and innovation environment
•2 years of experience in management or commercialization of Natural Resources innovation projects
•Project/Portfolio Management skills
•Excellent communication skills (report writing, oral presentations and negotiation)
•Good knowledge of technology development and innovation investment trends in the NR industry
•Knowledge of PFMA
•Knowledge of support systems for early technology development startup businesses.
