Specification
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT
Develop an aviation development strategy and plan. Manage the implementation of the plan annually

SAFETY AND SECURITY PROMOTION
Build and maintain relations with the industry to ensure that all
safety concerns are addressed
Engage with the user department to get a briefing for the event /
campaign
Profile the level of the event/campaign
Delegate to the aviation development team and make sure that the
event is run efficiently and professionally
Manage and decide which air shows and industry exhibitions to
be attended as per the EXCO approved plan
Ensure that safety presentations are conducted as per the
approved plan
Report monthly to EXCO on implementation of approved plan

INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT/
(CAREER AWARENESS)
Ensure that an annual plan is submitted to EXCO for approval on time
Ensure that targets as per the approved plan are met Build relationships with key stakeholders such as the Department of Education

EVENT MANAGEMENT
Manage events from conceptualisation to implementation in line with
the organisational strategy
Coordinate Steering Committee meetings with the Events / Branding Specialist
Allocate tasks to the aviation development team members
Liaise with speakers and the programme director
Ensure that issues raised at safety events that require action are
being followed up and that feedback is given to the members
Ensure that all events are within the agreed budget

BUDGET MANAGEMENT
Develop and manage the sectional departmental budget

STAFF MANAGEMENT
Ensure performance agreements and skills profiles are in place
Manage and approve staff leave
Manage and monitor staff performance
Manage deliverables of junior staff reporting to the position
Evaluate staff performance on a quarterly basis
Identify performance gaps and devise relevant interventions
Allocate resources to staff to ensure that they have necessary tools
to carry out their duties

TRAVEL MANAGEMENT
Manage and approve staff travel
Ensure that all travel arrangements comply with the supply
chain and travel policies

COMPLIANCE AND DEVELOP-
MENT OF POLICIES AND
PROCEDURES
Develop necessary policies and procedures
Ensure that ISO procedures are adhered to
Ensure that the section does not attract findings and that all findings
are addressed and closed

REPORTS
Compile monthly and quarterly reports and ensure accuracy of the
information therein
Ensure that reports are submitted timeously

DEVELOPMENT OF
PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
Identify the gaps in terms of the marketing material
Evaluate the existing promotional material
Ensure the availability of promotional material
Manage and conceptualise the production of promotional materials

PRODUCTION OF SAFETY
PUBLICATION
Manage supplier performance
Ensure that the publication is produced on time
Ensure that the content of the publication is relevant to the industry


Requirements
Education (Formal Qualification required)
Degree/National Diploma in Marketing/Public Relations/Communications.

Ideal
Postgraduate qualification.

Another minimum requirement
Drivers’ license.
