Specification
Participate in annual strategic planning sessions with executive management and identify actions aimed at addressing the BI and Data Warehousing needs of Medihelp.
Influence business decisions, processes and systems with a solid understanding of a data driven decision methodology.
Develop, enhance and own the BI tools, processes and BI solutions throughout the organisation.
Understand the goals, drivers and processes of all business units within the organisation.
Identify and apply the best technologies and secure the availability of technical skills to ensure that Medihelp keeps up with industry trends.
Compile operational plans and budgets to execute the business intelligence strategy as approved by the Board of Trustees.
Plan and manage the renewal and innovation of the BI platform within the enterprise.
Investigate and compare new BI technologies and applications to assess potential added value.
Prepare and review maintenance and service contracts with external suppliers.
Implement, manage and comply with the IT Governance Charter and IT Governance framework.
Implement and maintain a Data Classification policy in order to comply with POPI regulations.
Establish and maintain a set of data definitions throughout the organisation to understand and navigate potential anomalies and risks within Medihelp.
Ensure the integrity, credibility and accuracy of all data contained within the Data Warehouse as well as all information/reports/cubes/dashboards distributed by the BI portfolio.
Oversee the continuous alignment of BI with various business units and their strategies in order to achieve synergy.
Stay current with developments within the BI, and insurance landscape with a view to propose opportunities.
Manage and grow a core team of BI specialists in order to effectively utilise resources and reach objectives.
Requirements
An applicable tertiary Diploma/B-degree.
Official training in the following:
- BI toolset;
- Advanced programming in T-SQL; and
- ETL tool.
Eight years’ applicable experience of which three years must be experience in managing a technical team.
Must possess knowledge of the following:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Data Warehouse design methodologies according to the Ralph Kimball principles.
- Standards for Data Warehouse and BI systems;
- Implementation of BI solutions;
- Business Intelligence tools (Cognos, SSRS, BO, Qlickview);
- Project management; and
- Entry level DBA experience.
Must possess a valid K53 driving licence.
