Reports to: KHETHA Program Manager (Lowveld Office)

WWF South Africa is seeking a suitably qualified and technically experienced person to fulfil the accounting and grant management duties required for a large USAID-funded programme addressing wildlife trafficking in the South Africa / Mozambique landscape. The position will be based in a new office to be developed in the Lowveld region and will require ability to undertake national and regional travel as necessary. This is a 2 year contract position with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining, reviewing, reconciling, and balancing accounting records and systems for the project office including various sub awarded grants.

•Assist in establishing and monitoring the office budget and sub award partner grants;
•Manage quarterly and monthly financial planning and budget advance cycles;
•Conduct continuous, quarterly and the mandatory reviews in accordance with the program rules, policies and regulations;
•Validate project report balances on a monthly basis;
•Monitor payments and financial reports for grant agreements;
•Prepare and consolidate financial reports and cash flow projections, with supporting working papers and schedules;
•Assist with oversight and monitoring of partner contracts;
•Along with the Chief Financial Officer, respond to audit and USAID requests for documentation and other financial data requests;
•Serve as the main point of contact for KHETHA Program financial related matters which includes reviewing and uploading reports, conducting budget reviews, reviewing program invoices for accuracy before submitting for payment.
•Responsible for establishing and maintaining Fixed Assets register/s.
•Financial / Accounting degree or diploma;
•Minimum five years’ experience as an Accountant;
•Financial package experience, Pastel experience would be an added advantage;
•Proven expertise in managing effective project cycle management process in terms of financial management and reporting;
•Experience in managing US government donor funded and / or multi-partner project budgets would be advantageous;
•Computer literate: MS Excel advanced level;
•Accurate and strong attention to detail;
•Deadline driven and able to manage conflicting deadlines;
•Ability to work under pressure and independently;
•Possession of a valid passport and driver’s license;
•Willingness to travel;
•An interest in wildlife and community conservation issues would be beneficial;
•The ability to communicate in Portuguese would be advantageous.
