Company in Johannesburg North is looking for a experienced Regional HR Manager. The ideal candidate must have a HR Degree with a strong IR and Law background. This is not just an office position, and will entail travelling, active interaction, aggressive union involvement.

Guide the start-up and management of all Human Resource operations, systems and programs for a new location within the company.
Work with senior-level management to create fair and consistent Human Resource policies and procedures. Develop employee handbooks, including design and layout.
Advise managers on organizational policy matters and recommend needed changes.
Explain Human Resource policies and procedures to all employees. Answer employee questions during the entrance and exit interview processes.
Perform internal reviews and audit of current systems and policies.
Review national and statutory legislation to confirm and enforce company compliance.
Draft, Interpret and administer contracts pertaining to wages, grievances, employee welfare, pensions, health care, union and management practices and more.
Develop and implement documentation and reporting for administration of labor relations.
Negotiate with unions in collective bargaining negotiations. Handle grievances at work. Negotiate compensation rates, benefits, working conditions, and rates of advancement.
Manage and maintain the employee performance evaluation process and merit program.
Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants.
Create job descriptions to attract a targeted talent pool within the market wage range.
Increase the employee base to meet changing staffing needs.
Conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
Participate in the design, development and implementation of innovative workforce retention programs.
Provide review and approval of requests for reduction-in-force, reorganizations / realignments.
Develop employee restructuring plans. Devise severance packages.
Provide company with updated salary and job description information - after conducting investigations and research into reclassification and classification
Process all salary changes stemming from merit increases, promotions, bonuses and pay adjustments.
Conduct benefits administration for benefit-eligible employees.
Help create management training programs. Participate in meetings between labor and management and coordinate all training interventions
Manage leave liability
Work closely with Internal audit during investigations relating to fraud and theft incidents
Ensure a professional, forward thinking and dynamic human resources function that contributes meaningfully to the achievement of the regions goals / objectives.
Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.
Resolve personnel issues regarding Human Resource s matters needing clarification, submissions and corrections.
Facilitate monthly meetings to develop strategies that would positively influence workplace relationships.
Answer employee questions regarding employee related topics and resolve any issues.
Provide consultation and guidance to senior management and organizational partners in the interpretation of Human Resource management policies, procedures, programs and application of related government laws and regulations. Lead Human resource-related projects.
Provide advice on discipline process
Law Degree – preferably Labour Law
Relevant IR / HR tertiary qualification and/or equivalent level of competence.
8-10 years HR management levelexperience covering all dimensions as referred to in responsibilities.
5 years’ experience at Senior management level
Previous experience in a similar position.
Union negotiations and CCMA/Bargaining Council exposure.
Strong knowledge of labour law (LRA, BCEA, SDA, EEA, BBBEE, etc.) and high levels of knowledge and understanding of labour legislation governing the company
