Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) is a large-scale copper and cobalt producer with substantial high-grade mineral reserves, located in the Lualaba Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in the Central African Copperbelt. KCC is a joint venture between Katanga Mining Ltd. (75%) and the state-owned mining companies, Gecamines (20%) and SIMCO (5%).

The operation consists of open pits and underground mines, one concentrator and a hydrometallurgical processing facility. KCC is constructing the Whole Ore Leach plant to increase throughput capacity and improve recoveries to sustainably produce 300,000 tonnes of copper and 22,000 tonnes of cobalt per year by 2019.

KCC employs more than 7,000 workers (employees and contractors). The company develops local suppliers and surrounding communities through community and infrastructure improvement programmes.

Our Health & Safety Coordinator/KCC PTW Administrator shall:
•Assist contractors and employees on high risk tasks to ensure all groups adhere to company policy
•Demonstrate excellent Risk Management skills
•Act as a resource to KCC and contract personnel
•Provide PTW technical assistance and/or advice as needed
•Must have an excellent working knowledge on fall protection systems
•Must consistently schedule, execute and deliver high quality work results
•Facilitate frequent audits to ensure compliance with local regulations and company policy
•Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct
•Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management
•Consistently exercise discretion and judgment in job performance
•Work without risk or harm to self and others
•Punctuality and regular attendance required
•Help develop other department personnel to perform duties listed above
•Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor
•Provide the KCC steercom quarterly updates on PTW progress and program improvement suggestions
•Ensure that annual PTW training material is current and all authorized users have been trained
•Possesses good communication and interpersonal skills
•Must be skilled, comfortable and effective while working with and coaching all personnel
•General understanding of mining, milling and maintenance operations
•Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
•Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
•Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team
•Demonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills
•Requires a valid driver’s license
•Requires a valid Passport
•Must be willing to spend 80% of the time in the field
