Introduction
The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising the returns from the sales of Starke Ayres’ approved range of vegetable seed products within his/her own portfolio, as well as managing a team of Product Managers.

Responsibilities within his / her own product portfolio:

•Evaluates Starke Ayres’ seed product range on an on-going basis and recommends new cultivar introductions to, and deletions from, the product range
•Develop and implement product and marketing strategies and provide specialized product and marketing input
•Develop long-term relationships with strategic customers and regularly visits current and potential customers and ensure continuous communication is maintained.
•Compile financial- and unit budgets and monitor unit sales of products on an ongoing basis.
•Identify the national product / technical training needs of sales staff and co-ordinate the implementation of a sustained national product training programme.
•Provide technical and sales support for sales teams on the relevant crops

Managerial Responsibilities:

•Key responsibilities will be to lead a team of Product Managers in various regions in establishing strategy and direction to accomplish business objectives.
•Manage staff to anticipate market needs, develop market growth and expansion, ensure that the team's efforts are directed accordingly.
•Define broad guidelines for Product / Market Development and objectives for the new varieties to be released.
•Manage Product Development budgets.
Requirements
•BSc Agric / Horticulture
•Minimum 5 - 8 yrs. experience in a product development role within the vegetable seed industry.
•A solid background in providing technical support within a marketing and sales environment will be required
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including but not limited to Excel, Outlook and Word.

•Regular domestic and international travelling will be required in this role.
