Position summary:

The Chief Academic Officer (Product) will assume full responsibility for the following academic aspects of the business: regulatory & compliance, product development, quality assurance, research and work integrated learning.

This is to ensure that the group is fully compliant with all regulatory requirements, that there is a 3 year rolling product roadmap created and maintained for the group, being responsible for the development, administration and upholding of the group’s academic programs per brand, to drive quality enhancement throughout the group academic structures and to implement and integrate a work integrated learning strategy for the group.

Duties & Responsibilities

Regulatory and Compliance

•Oversee the maintenance of the accreditation status with the different quality councils and quality
assurance partners
•Oversee the maintenance of the Registration with the Department of Higher Education and Training
•Consistently update knowledge on changes in legislation and policy in the education landscape
•Oversee the management of effective monitoring for regulatory and compliance across all sites
•Oversee the maintenance of a register Policies & Procedures for the group
•Represent the group at workshops hosted by the regulatory bodies
•Ensure that all the statutory committees are correctly constituted with terms of references
•Perform research into the accreditation and regulatory and compliance requirements for specificcountries as per the Africa expansion policy
•Ensure the integrity, accuracy and security of the Group’s academic records

Product development/maintenance

•Ensure that there is a schedule of planned maintenance of all the courses in the group created withina working cycle
•Responsible to create and maintain a Product Roadmap for the Group
•Responsible to manage the actual development, accreditation and course material of the courses

Quality Assurance

•Ensure that a full quality management system is implemented for the group.
•Oversee the Management of the process of implementing best practice across all brands

Research

•Oversee the management of research of new markets, products, teaching methodologies and deliverables , to cumulate in a rolling group product roadmap
•Perform research around new product requirements, markets, accreditation requirements and methods of delivering, and incorporate this into the creation of the Group Product Roadmap
•Oversee the Research Colloquiums for the group



Budget management

•Manage the total people cost for your team against the budget for the year.

•Create a work integrated learning (WIL) strategy for the group

•Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and support tactical initiatives
•Assist with the implementation of strategic decisions

Requirements
Requirements of the job:

•PHD or Doctorate in Education
•10 -15 Years’ Experience in education of which 5 years must be in a management role.
•Experience in strategic planning and execution
•Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
•Experience in the identification, development and accreditation of new courses
•Skilled in the creation of a quality assurance plans and the implementation thereof
•In depth knowledge of Education and Training legislature framework i.e. NQF, HEQF, DOE, HEQC etc.
•Risk management, communication and business acumen skills
•High level of competency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
