Specification
(2 year contract position based at the SANParks Phalaborwa Office, Kruger National Park)

Background:

WWF South Africa’s Khetha Programme and the Kruger National Park is working together to design, manage and implement identified wildlife economy projects in the Greater Kruger area with specific focus on community based socio-economic development opportunities as per the KNP Park Management plan Work Plan, and partner programmes.

A further focus is on poverty nodes, KNP integrated land use and community wildlife/socio-economic-development programmes (SED), land claimant programmes, and geographical areas dealing with wildlife and community crime within the Greater KNP footprint.

Responsibilities:

•Provide Strategic oversight with regard to wildlife economy business development opportunities,
•Develop a strategic partnership plan, with specific reference to the sustainability of wildlife economy/community socio-economic development programmes,
•Develop business development and implementation plans within implementation clusters,
•Participate in, facilitate and/or coordinate business development fora/structures, with specific reference to wildlife economy/community socio-economic development programmes,
•Business development knowledge transfer to wildlife economy beneficiaries,
•Fund raising so support wildlife economy initiatives, also to address wildlife security issues linked to such economic development clusters, and to leverage opportunities in line with the KNP Management Plan, and
•Monitor progress and impact of business development programme and implementation projects
•Support capacity building and skills transfer in this area of work, within the institution and throughout the sector
Requirements
Requirements:

•MBA or relevant Business Degree
•Proven business development management experience (Minimum of 10 years)
•Good communication and leadership experience
•Proven community engagement experience
•Solid feasibility and business plan development experience
•Fund raising and Fund application experience
•Excellent Financial skills
•Excellent Communication skills
•Proven Project management skills
•Proven computer literacy and presentation skills
•Good understanding of the wildlife and related industry.
•Good understanding of the Tourism industry
•Excellent monitoring and reporting skill
•Good work ethic
•Ability to travel and work in rural environments
•Experience in working with traditional authorities and municipalities
•Understanding the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)

Further Information:

The position will be required to travel 50% of the time (locally) to support programme delivery.
