Introduction
The position of Financial Reporting Lecturer sits within the new Department of Professional Accounting, which was formed when CA Connect (www.caconnect.co.za) joined Milpark Education in 2018. The appointed lecturer will join the existing Financial Reporting subject team.

This team is currently responsible for the Financial Reporting aspects of the Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting (“PGDA”, a CTA equivalent), which is set to launch in 2019 as the first online SAICA-accredited PGDA in South Africa. The PGDA aims is to bring together the best aspects of contact and distance online education, with a strong focus on live student interaction and support and mentoring.

In time, the Department of Professional Accounting will develop additional programmes to complement its PGDA.

Responsibilities of the position include material development and maintenance; student support including live online group and individual sessions; assessment setting; marking; and general administration.

The Financial Reporting Lecturer will play a key role in driving of these functions and ensuring that course objectives are met, while adapting as the course evolves.

The role will be fulfilled remotely on an outcomes-focused basis. While it is full time role, there is scope for some flexibility in working hours.

Appointment to the position is intended for early 2019. Salary will be market-related.

Specification
Key Selection Criteria
•Previous tertiary education experience, particularly at a CTA
level.
•Technical competence in IFRS standards examinable at
PGDA and ITC levels
•Strong communication skills – verbal and written
•A passion for developing students through genuine care
•An industrious and gregarious attitude with the ability to
learn, solve problems and complete tasks without close
supervision
•Ability to work independently but also closely liaise with
Financial Reporting Subject Head and PGDA Programme
Coordinator to assure the course objectives are met
