The above vacancy has become available at our Research Facility based in Greytown. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the continuous development of competitive varieties for present and future market needs.

Main duties will include:
•Design, plan, implement and evaluate new breeding trials to ensure a constant flow of commercially successful varieties.
•Establish market requirements and implement relevant breeding strategies in order to develop new cultivars.
•Ensure availability of required quantities and quality of basic seed.
•Collect accurate and detailed records while maintaining databases and administration pertaining to breeding programme.
•Co-ordinate and communicate breeding program activities to management and sales teams and provide ongoing technical support.
We invite applications from dynamic, self-disciplined candidates who meet the following minimum criteria:
•BSc Agriculture majoring in Plant Breeding / Genetics. (A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage)
•At least three years’ experience as a breeder that will provide sound knowledge and proven understanding of genetic theory, traditional breeding methods, statistics, pathology and biotechnology.
•Experience with breeding software will be an added advantage
