The Engineer executes the activities with own area of responsibility ensuring the compliance with the engineering design standards/codes, QA/QC and HSE requirements:
A - Development Technology know how and Engineering Design:
Define Mechanical Rotating equipment engineering design basis
Perform Mechanical Rotating Equipment engineering designs and develop or compile related scope and specifications in collaboration with Process Design Engineer and other disciplines.
Develop and or prepare Mechanical Rotating equipment basic and detailed designs
B – Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Study:
Perform and or conduct Rotating Equipment project development pre-feasibility studies and feasibility studies, working closely and in consultation with other engineering disciplines.
Provide technical support as it may be required to complete the feasibility study.
Review pre-feasibility and feasibility study reports.
C - Bidding phase/ Commercial proposal development:
Review technical tender documentation
Prepare rotating equipment technical documentation for inquiry
Review and make technical evaluation of machinery bids received by vendors
Prepare material take-off to support construction cost estimate
Perform the technical bid analysis and develop technical proposals
D - Project execution, Manufacturing and Construction
Support project machinery lead to review contractual technical documentation and requirements
Support machinery lead in technical negotiation with vendors. Review and supervise subcontracted discipline engineering documents
Review, mark-up comments and finalise all vendor drawings interfacing with other process or technical disciplines
Provide support for document management and certified final documentation
Co-ordinate the review and finalisation of equipment purchasing specifications and construction designs
E - Commissioning and start up:
Assist commissioning activity providing information and clarification through vendors
Take part in site supervision, inspection, testing and quality controls
Coordinate activities for as built drawing
Assist engineering modifications on site
-MSc, BSc, B-Tech or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
-Project Management post graduate certificate (Added advantage)
-Professional registration with respective professional bodies such as ECSA, SACPCMP etc. (Added advantage)
-Technical software tools and information systems supporting business processes
-Process engineering design

-Technical proposal preparation
