The Beverage Company is a large manufacturing company in the Carbonated Soft Drinks industry. The Group has a national footprint and focuses on quality products for the alternative beverage market.

Role Purpose

To ensure all final products comply with quality and food safety specifications

Key Accountabilities and Outputs
Quality Assurance
•Responsible for implementation and maintenance of quality and food safety management systems across the group
•Food Safety Team leader and management representative
•Responsible for aligning the companies quality and food safety practices to meet with legislative requirements across the group
•Responsible for determining methods and procedures for analysis
•Responsible for facilitating training of subordinates
•Responsible for verifying results generated by QC, Raw Materials and Micro lab tests
•Responsible for compiling reports for Scientific evaluation of shelf life for product
•Responsible for quarterly systems review on all policies and procedures
•Responsible for implementing and monitoring raw materials management program
•Responsible for conducting Hazard Analysis (HACCP)
•Responsible for Systems Validation
•Provide information for creation of product labels
•Review and approval of labels
•Responsible for authorizing all Internal and External calibrations for equipment
•Responsible for root cause analysis into consumer complaint and trade returns
•Oversee reports on Quality / Food Safety Trend analysis
•Responsible for authorizing all purchases for the Department budgets/ expenses
•Responsible for ensuring the company meets all legislative and customer requirements
•Line and product qualifications
•Facilitating all external and 3rd party audits
•Ensuring that corrective action and preventative measures are implemented

Pest Control:
•Review all Pest control reports
•Authorize corrective action
•Renew contracts with pest control supplier – as and when required

Qualifications and Experience
•Minimum grade 12 qualification
•National Diploma with BTech in Food Technology / BSc Degree in Food Sciences
•8 years’ experience, Experience in progressively responsible for quality assurance, within a food manufacturing environment, including food safety and laboratory management
•Implementation and Continual Improvement of FSSC 22000 standards
