Cycle Lab Fourways is currently seeking a Bicycle Mechanic to join their team.
The Mechanic will be responsible for the following duties
•Must have a working knowledge and understanding of relevant machinery used for repairs of cycling equipment.
•Must have an in-depth knowledge of different techniques used to repair brand specific product.
•All repairs to be completed according to the Standard Operating Procedure which details the relevant brand specific requirements. These will also be found on TeeBox
•Utmost care should be taken with the handling of product which has been handed in for repairs, to avoid any damages to the relevant bicycles.
•The bicycle technician services, maintains and repairs bicycles and bicycle components.
•Builds certain bicycle components such as wheels
•Any damages to bicycles as a result of repairs taking place must immediately be reported to the workshop manager.
•Technicians can specialize and branch out into wheel building or fork and shock servicing too
•Assembling new bikes for putting on the sales floor
•Identifying faults, damage and wear
•Carrying out minor repairs (e.g. fixing punctures and adjusting gears)
•Repairing and/or replacing damaged or worn-out components
•Wheel truing (straightening bike wheels so that they are properly aligned)
•Fitting accessories (lights, pannier racks or cycle computers)
•Carrying out routine services and safety checks
•Cleaning, degreasing and lubricating bicycles and components
•Advising customers regarding work which is required, and whether this is essential or recommended
•Estimating costs (labor and parts) and providing customer quotes
•Booking in work
•Dealing with customer queries and offering product or general cycling advice
•Liaising with suppliers and dealers
•5+ years’ experience as a Technician / Mechanic
•Minor and major service experience
•Technical knowledge of various suspension systems
•Experience in servicing various suspension systems, bleeding of brakes, building of wheels and pivot services, etc.
