We are searching for a dynamic and experienced Digital Lead (Online Editor) to join Kagiso Media Radio Editorial Team. The successful encumbent will be based at and service East Coast Radio, a division of Kagiso Media (Pty) Ltd.
The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible to manage and maintain the East Coast Radio website, online content and all related digital properties/platforms, in conjunction with the Market Engagement Manager and Programming Manager.

1. Planning, developing and implementing online editorial strategy for the East Coast Radio website
•Developing monthly themes that is in line with station strategy
•Generating story ideas and source stories for the East Coast Radio website
•Creating content in line with editorial standards and values
•Scripting on-air mentions
•Feeding ideas daily to the on-air producers and programming team
•Sourcing newer programming ideas that can deepen the online content.
•Monitoring and driving adequate promotion of online and onair elements.
•Creating opportunities for content syndication partnerships
•Transitioning website to a multimedia content portal
•Creative input in content development for podcast and video
2. Identify user generated content ideas from social media channels
•Promoting website content on social media platforms.
•Implementing audience growth strategies for editorial
•Creating “talkability” and sharing content to build the fan base on social media
3. Create and manage a weekly newsletter
•Creating content that will bring more users to the Jacaranda FM ECR website
•Liaising with station stakeholders
•Creating and sending to database
4. Content management: maintenance, updating daily/monthly content
•Managing user profiles
•Liaising with the sales team to position client content optimally on the website
•Creating content engagement opportunities for audience – polls, quizz, web exclusive stories, theme days for UGC
5. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
•Attending daily breakfast meeting
•Attending daily content diary meeting
•Attending daily product meeting
•Attending weekly news meeting with online journalist
•Attending once a month presenters meeting
•Attending once a month news meeting
•Attending once a week digital content team meeting
•Monitoring realtime analytics and feedback to on-air and news team
•Reviewing monthly statistics and compile reports
•Feedback learnings to management and production teams
6. Proofread/copy-edit blogs
•Ensuring continuity and style
•Sharing best practice with bloggers
7. Team participation
•Participates as a member of the digital team.
•Execute any tasks that may reasonably be expected.
Qualifications and Competencies
•Degree or Diploma: Journalism / Media
•Minimum of 5 years digital and editorial experience
•Radio experience will be an advantage
•Previous experience and skills in web content management, writing and editing for social media platforms
•Understanding of current digital trends, online marketing concepts and best practice;
•Understanding of digital Ad-networks
•Understanding digital media law.
•Experience in and/or good understanding of the fundamentals of online media and marketing including SEO, SEM, email marketing, social media and online reputation management
•Knowledge of and interest in popular culture, news and music
•Drivers Licence and own car essential
•Work in high pressure environment with quick turn-around time;
•Strong communication skills;
•Must be able to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
•Understanding of social media schedules, responsiveness and availability requirements, and willingness to be available outside of core business hours.
