Introduction
10X is disrupting the investment industry to help ordinary people like your mother, grandfather or friend, get dramatically better value for their long-term savings and lead more dignified lives in retirement. The investment industry is mostly self-serving, complex and expensive and produces poor value for most people – ask anyone who has saved their whole life in a Retirement Annuity or pension fund or tried to understand how to invest at retirement.
10X is challenging this unjust industry by providing a simple, direct low fee investment solution. We’re on a mission to build a customer-centric tech-enabled company - think Amazon, not CNA. We’ve got an outstanding ten-year track record delivering industry-beating returns at lower costs with operational excellence and exceptional client retention. But we’ve only just started. We need great people to help us achieve our dreams. Sure, it’s a big challenge, but what’s the point of spending your life doing easy, unimportant, me too things?
If you are a passionate, determined, smart, self-starting, ambitious independent thinker that wants to make a positive difference to people’s long-term financial well-being, then we would love to hear from you.

Specification
An opportunity exists for an honours graduate who would like to pursue a career in an investment team specialising in index tracking. Our 18-month development program will help you develop a broad skills base, gain exposure to the investment process, develop knowledge and insight into the investment and retirement industry. You will support a small investment team in this role and can expect to be stretched outside of a narrowly scoped role.

In this role, the role holder will gain on-the-job learning, technical training as well as professional development that will equip them with the skills and experience to become a fully-fledged investment professional. This size of the team and our organisation will require flexibility and the appetite to take on a variety of different tasks that will stretch you beyond a narrowly defined role. This will ramp your learning and will aide in the development of a broad view and development of broad technical skills. In addition to on-the-job training, you will receive support to enrol in a professional investment qualification (CIPM or CFA).

On completion of the 18-month program, you will have gained experience in the following areas:
• Portfolio management
• Trading
• Performance analysis and reporting
• Competitor analysis
• Different investment and retirement products
• The regulatory environment
• Client presentations and engagement
Requirements
Qualification:
• Honours Degree or equivalent with specialisation in finance, accounting, maths, actuarial science, statistics, engineering or related quantitative focus with a minimum of first-year mathematics and second-year statistics
• CFA or CIPM studies a distinct advantage

Experience that will count in your favour:
• 0-2 years’ experience in financial services, with knowledge of investments
• Excel skills to advanced level
• This is a development role, and we are looking for candidates who have previously been disadvantaged who are hungry for an opportunity and who would like to be part of the organisation’s mission

Some personal attributes and talents we believe will make you successful in this role are:
• Passionate about financial markets, investments and indexation
• Attention to detail and accuracy under pressure with tight time constraints
• Actively collaborate and contribute to the overall team results
• A high degree of numerical and analytical ability
• Above average communication skills – written and oral
• Great service orientation, putting the client first in everything you do
•Ability to work successfully in a small company, entrepreneurial environment
• Self-starter that takes initiative

Aligned with 10X’s core purpose and vision: We are a purpose-driven organisation that puts our clients first, not just in our mission statement but in practice. Our culture reflects this. If ‘client first’ resonates with you, if it is something you constantly strive for, then you will find it easy to become part of our organisation and team.

We love what we do, and our environment is engaging and challenging but also fun. If our aspirations and purpose do not resonate with you, you won’t enjoy working here and won’t produce exceptional results for yourself or us.

Values & respect: 10X operate with mutual respect and dignity. Whist we want super-star contributions and attitude we do not tolerate or promote super-star behaviour. Be authentic and genuine. We do what we say, we say what we do and provide full transparency to our clients and colleagues. We are a down-to-earth and well-grounded bunch and are secure in our abilities, which is evident in our work and track-record.

Collaboration: Teamwork is critical as it brings the best out in us and helps us stretch and grow as peers, nurture and retain our talent and innovate for our clients. Collaboration is one up from teamwork; here we work together towards a common goal: “to create dignity during retirement” for our clients. It means setting aside our egos and opinions and allowing space for the diversity of opinions, ideas and suggestions of colleagues.

Leadership in all we do: We are focused on creating dignity during retirement. An audacious goal. It requires courageous leadership of self, peers and teams. Without direction, we will drift, and our teams will drift. We move ahead by boldly leading, respectfully challenging, setting the example for our industry, our peers and our teams.

Technical excellence in your area of expertise: We run a precise and data-driven business. We base decisions on facts, not feelings or industry practices. In this role we would want you to be the master of several areas, we want you to strive for excellence at all times, and we want you to instil this same excellence in your team.

Robust financial modelling and analytical skill: You must have an excellent understanding of numbers and an affinity for it.
Problem-solving skills: The ability to provide simple, practical solutions to complex challenges. You need to be an independent thinker who can see things differently and get to the root cause of issues quickly. Equally, you need to be able to assist team members with their problem-solving abilities and instil a mindset that will enable solutions and constant improvement.

High energy & motivated: As a disruptive, lean organisation, we need to be substantially better than our competition. We do more with less. In this role, you will have to have a "lean" mindset and manage our operations and your business domain with that in mind. This mind-set requires high energy and resilience. If you regard yourself as a high performer and an A-player, then this culture will suit you well.

Handle pressure, learn and reflect: 10X is a high performance and relatively demanding environment. This must suit you. We all make mistakes but must be willing to admit to mistakes, reflect on them and learn, so we improve rather than perpetuate the same mistakes.

Perhaps most important of all, we are looking for someone who enjoys people, has a sense of humour, and values family, friends and a life well lived!

In return for your passion, dedication, skills and experience, we offer the following:
There are cash and non-cash components to our employee value proposition:
1. We offer market-related salaries, based on industry intelligence & research
2. We will pay for your professional studies
