Introduction
Our client in the mining industry is looking for suitably qualified citizen candidates, who are highly adaptable and resilient to fill in the position of Heavy Plant Mechanic.

Specification
Fleet and Machinery Maintenance and Repair

Receives a work order/request and assesses work to be carried out and mobilises resources such as labour, tools and equipment, checking for defects/damage 
Diagnoses and repairs faults on vehicles/machinery and systems, eg, transmission, hydraulic, braking, body, suspension and engine systems 
Carries out preventative maintenance on stand-by generators, vehicles and machines at scheduled machine service intervals 
Strips and services mechanical components (eg, engines, transmissions, differentials, etc) 
Test runs and operates equipment to check for efficiency and functionality after carrying out repairs, and rectifies any failings to meet set BCL standards and manufacturer’s specifications
Interprets schematic drawings from manuals or draws mechanical circuits for repairs and installations  Completes works orders on all the tasks performed and spares and consumables used
Monitors stock levels 
Provides technical advice to customers and vehicle/machinery end users 
Interprets service and parts manuals in the process of ordering spares

Planning and Organising
Prioritises and schedules mechanical jobs to be undertaken according to work requests

Safety, Health and Environment
Adheres to the Company safety rules and procedures (eg, HIRA, Permit to Work, SHE leading indicators), and takes necessary remedial action in accordance with laid down Company rules 
Follows laid down lock out procedure prior to commencement of work, including recording incident in prescribed register
Requirements
Education

NCC in Heavy Plant or equivalent
Valid Drivers’ licence

Experience and Knowledge

2 years as a Trainee post-qualification
Basic Auto-Electrical knowledge
