As Enrolled Nurse, to take responsibility for both direct and indirect nursing care of a patient or group of patients, and to function under the direct and/or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, according to the scope of practice of an Enrolled Nurse.

Perform all duties in accordance with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), Department of Health (DOH) and National Core standards.
Adhere to the principles and standards of patient advocacy according to SANC Acts and Omissions, Company Code of Conduct, Patient Rights and Responsibility Charter, National Millennium Development goals and the responsibility of continuous professional development (CPD).
Plan, organize, assess and prioritize work for self to ensure efficient completion of tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Quality, Risk, Emergency Preparedness:
Drive quality of care by adhering to work standards and establishing a safe, therapeutic and clean environment for all stakeholders (patient, family, doctors and staff), that is free from medico-legal hazards.
Document patient care services by accurately charting in patient and department records including progress on patient conditions.
Maintain accurate records of all pharmaceuticals used, and ensure medications are correctly charged and administered according to prescribed standards.
Devise a working knowledge of, and familiarize self with company policies and protocols to ensure overall work effectiveness, including adhering to the company leave policy.
Be an ambassador for quality patient care by living the company values and maintaining professional conduct at all times.
Develop and maintain effective communication channels amongst doctors, staff, patients and relatives through regular ward rounds
Be available to support and offer expertise to other units when own unit is under-utilized, or when required to do emergency relief.
Ensure thorough and effective handover of records when shift is completed.
Patient Advocacy, Customer/Doctor Relationships:
Drive a positive patient (customer) experience by putting patients first and deliver holistic customer-oriented service
Inform and educate patients about the Group’s complaints procedure and “The Voice” platform.
Maintain ongoing communication with the Registered Nurse regarding the health and functional status of patients whilst maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Communicate with patient and family regarding patient care and inform Unit Manager (or Registered Nurse) of patient care problems.
Communicate clearly to patient and family regarding the status of patient care and provide helpful information and education to support patient needs.
Promote a harmonious and compassionate environment that encourages patient recovery and supports overall well-being of the patient.
Adhere to the principles of Lean management (i.e. reducing wastage and unnecessary expenditure), without compromising patient care whilst ensuring minimal wastage.
Utilize supplies and equipment in an economical manner reducing wastage whilst maintaining overall control of these supplies and equipment.
Ensure correct use, cleaning and storage of equipment and report equipment that requires repair and maintenance to Registered Nurse or Unit Manager.
People, HR Policy and Procedure:
Be actively involved in own development to enhance professional and technical knowledge and skills, for example, through attendance of work-related seminars, attendance at CPD workshops, rotating to other units to gain broader exposure and establishing beneficial networks that improves overall performance of self and unit.
Participate as a team member and contribute effectively towards the achievement of unit goals.
Ensure performance contracting process is completed timeously for self and that outputs are delivered according to performance standards.
Market our Nursing services by responding timeously to patient needs, projecting a professional image and providing quality personal patient care.
Keep abreast of latest technology, innovations and progression within the nursing field and contribute effective ideas to improve patient care and organizational unit goals.
Assist with patient acuity including agency staff.
Grade 12.
Enrolled Nursing qualification.
Current registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC).
BLS qualification advantageous
Previous experience in operating department advantageous
2-3 years’ relevant Nursing experience based on area of specialization.
Experience within private hospital environment advantageous.
Computer proficiency advantageous
