1.Setting of assignments and examination papers in line with the NQF-Level Descriptors
a.Set assignment/s and examination paper/s as per exam cycles. There are two examination cycles per annum.
b.The due dates will be communicated to the Consultant but should generally be prepared six months prior to the examination taking place in May and October each year.
c.Each assignment and examination paper must be accompanied by a comprehensive memorandum which must comply with the Company’s Academic Policies.
d.Penalties will apply for inadequate assessments etc.
e.The documentation must be submitted in the agreed electronic format.
2.Preparing a letter of guidance/tutorial:
a.Prepare a comprehensive guidance/tutorial letter as required for each examination cycle as per the agreed format.
b.The letter of guidance should provide guidelines as to the type of questions to be expected, as well as important aspects of the study material to study for the examination.
c.The documentation must be submitted in the agreed electronic format.
3.Conduct contact sessions:
a.Prepare and present material, as requested, for contact sessions.
b.Contact sessions are generally conducted in Johannesburg and Tshwane but may also be conducted in other cities/towns in South Africa.
c.A feedback report following contact sessions must be submitted to the Head of Faculty.
4.Marking of assignment, examination scripts and portfolios of evidence
a.Marked assignment, examination scripts and portfolios of evidence must be returned to the Assessment Section within the time specified by the Assessment Manager, calculated from the date of receipt of the scripts by the Consultant.
b.Late returns will result in reduction of remuneration
c.A marker’s report is required for each assignment and examination cycle. The report is to be completed in the prescribed format.
d.Claims for marking will only be accepted in the prescribed form “Request for Official Payment”, unless otherwise directed.
e.Aid students by answering subject related queries as directed by the Head of Faculty.
f.The response to the students could be telephonic or by correspondence, student portal or e-mail but must be concluded within a period of 48 hours after receipt of the query from the Company.
g.Provide copies of correspondence to the Academic Manager, or a written report on telephone support provided.
h.Once marking is completed, an overall report must be completed to provide students with feedback on their performance and expectations. (Template: Examiners Report-Student Feedback to be completed)
Provide feedback to the Head of Faculty regarding problems or issues arising from the content and/or matters hindering students from completing the subject successfully
1. Qualification specialisation in the SeSwati language.
2. First degree or level above.
3. (NQF Level 7 qualification) Relevant industry experience beneficial.
4. Experience with assessment design and development.
5. An understanding of the South African regulatory framework and higher education requirements in relation to assessment design
