Being a mutual insurer brings with it additional and exciting actuarial issues that are not standard at a typical shareholder-owned insurer. Our actuarial department (Actuarial Services) is made up of the Product and Valuations Departments. The two departments work closely together and so being a part of our teams offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of actuarial work in a life insurance environment. The above-mentioned position is within the Product Department specifically and the overall purpose of the role is to support the department to deliver on its Product Development and Product Management objectives.
Supporting product development of new products for both the individual and group scheme market.
Supporting product pricing of new products for both the individual and group scheme market.
Supporting product management of existing products to ensure their ongoing actuarial soundness.
Supporting the end-to-end roll-out of new products and product enhancements.
Performing competitor and industry research and analysis proposing innovative product solutions.
Maintaining awareness of the regulatory and general business operating environment to support the product development strategy of business.
Tracking and monitoring the impact of product development and product management efforts as part of the actuarial control cycle for both the individual and group scheme market.
Providing technical expertise and support to business.
Assisting management in analysing, supplying and translating information on key areas of business performance
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION:
Appropriate tertiary qualification in Actuarial Science.
Making good progress with the actuarial exams, ideally having completed or nearly completed Part A1 and Part A2 technical subjects from ASSA or the equivalent of another international recognised actuarial body (eg IFoA).
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:
3-5 Years experience in an actuarial department in the financial services industry.
Life insurance product development experience is preferred.
Practical experience with Qlikview, VBA, Prophet and DCS will be advantageous.

Good understanding of actuarial modelling principles.
