Specification
To provide appropriate inpatient care, identification and management of comorbid conditions, clinical assessments/ screening and preventative interventions; ensure clinical supervisions and mentoring and management of emergencies
Minimum Job Requirements:
•Lead clinical governance, risk management and educational programmes for health care professionals in the hospital and serve as a point of escalation over sensitive issues
•Ensures that the hospital has a quality improvement program with clear deliverables, practitioners are practicing in a manner that is compliant with established professional standards, code of ethics and regulations
•Co-ordinate the development of clinical protocols and guidelines, to reduce variation in clinical practice
•Use quality improvement practices and data driven problem solving methods to identify areas of significant operational risk and opportunities and prioritize areas of focus for improvement
•Use patient safety and clinical outcomes data to drive discussion and gain support for appropriate quality improvement interventions
•Work with members of the hospital MANCO team and health care professionals to monitor and evaluate the quality of delivery of patient care services within the hospital
•Monitor implementation of Risk Management Committee recommendations and escalation of non-compliance
•Ensure implementation of action plans derived at M&M Meetings
•Ensure that total confidentiality and privacy of patients is maintained
•Implement change management strategies to improve clinical outcomes
•Drive and maintain relationships with internal and relevant external stakeholders, independent specialists, allied professionals and other health care providers
•Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among the clinical team members
•Instil collaboration amongst multidisciplinary clinical teams to work together to accomplish tasks.
•Arbitrate and resolve conflict and interface problems within the multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
•Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
•5 years post community service and clinical experience in a hospital setting
•2 years’ experience in a middle management role
•Registration with Health Professional Council of South Africa as an independent practitioner
