Act as subject matter expert for the BI team and organisation to ensure data quality is maintained through several internal initiatives.

Assisting in making recommendations (such as validations, changes to processes, addition fields required) to source and BI Systems in order to ensure the data quality is maintained.

Assist with defining and maintaining an exception framework within the BI systems to assist the business with data quality issues.

Provide support to the ERP developers and other systems in resolving data issues identified by testing data flowing into the data warehouse and providing reports/extracts.

Report and monitor any exceptions. Liaison with relevant departments to ensure it is resolved.

Responsible for data profiling for the Business Intelligence (BI) team.

Investigate data required for new and changing analytic requirements and determine the feasibility and accessibility of such data.

Analyse the usefulness, relevance and understandability of the BI data models.

Evaluate changes in business rules and logic to determine the effect of these on BI data models.

Assisting in streamlining of the flow of data within the organization to minimize duplication and redundancy of data initiatives so that there is one source of the truth.

Liaise with development departments on system changes that impact on BI.

Continuously investigate and initiate actions in collaboration with system owners to ensure more intelligent application of systems and system related processes.

Evaluate key and new data sources to ensure these can be interpreted and represented correctly for purposes of data analytics.

Test new data models and ensure quality checks are done on data models.

Debug data issues identified and propose suitable solutions.

Assisting with requirements analysis and design of BI data models.

Give day-to-day support and training to users on data definitions within BI systems.

Provide technical assistance and cross-training to other team members.

Compile technical documentation regarding BI environments.

Assist with the design and development of data models, ETL processes, analytical models, dashboards and reports.
Requirements

Paterson D1

Relevant degree preferably in business, law, engineering or science disciplines.

At least 8 to 10 years’ combined experience working in a BI environment and/or an organisation’s key ERP source systems.

Able to demonstrate how data and applications are integrated within the organisation.

Paterson D2

Relevant degree preferably in business, law, engineering or science disciplines.

At least 10 to 12 years’ experience working in a BI environment and/or an organisation’s key ERP source systems.

Able to demonstrate how data and applications are integrated within the organisation.

Must possess knowledge of the following:

Extensive database knowledge;

Programming and database query languages;

Data modelling techniques; and

Knowledge of the medical schemes industry, including expected data and processes.

Must possess the following skills:

Good communication skills with both technical people and business owners;

Customer centricity and focus;

Problem-solving skills and the ability to decipher complex data problems;

Ability to make recommendations regarding both source and BI systems;

Analytical thinking;

Multitasking and project management; and

Ability to work under pressure.
