The Company seeks the services of a Chief Biomedical Scientist. Reporting to the Medical Superintendent, The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and providing an efficient, high quality laboratory service at reasonable cost to Mopani Copper Mines customers and other Hospitals and Clinics.

1.Minimum Degree (BSc) in Biomedical Science / Medical Laboratory Science.
2.Full Registration with Health Professions Council of Zambia.
3.Five years’ post-graduation experience in a reputable Clinical Laboratory at Sectional Technologist level.
4.Basic training in Medical Laboratory Management an added advantage.
5.Must have high ethical standards
1.Ensures compliance to “Health and safety code of practice” in order to prevent and control accidents and infection in the laboratory.
2.Provide a safe working area by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in order to avoid laboratory acquired infections and accidents.
3.Ensure implementation of a Quality Management System with a view of producing reliable, dependable and efficient laboratory results for the benefit of the clients (patients, clinicians and other health care providers).
4.Ensure that samples are analyzed correctly, quickly and reports sent back to the clinicians for quick diagnosis and treatments thus reduce lost time injury.
5.Review all internal quality control documents and laboratory results and ensure occurrences and corrective actions are documented.
6.Ensure through forward planning that sufficient labour numbers, stocks of reagents, consumables and blood are available in order to provide uninterrupted high quality laboratory service.
7.Replace obsolete equipment, establish and maintain a planned preventive program to enhance efficiency, prolong equipment life and reduce/avoid downtime.
8.Formulates and manages laboratory budget and monitors the use of materials in order to run an efficient system within or below approved budget.
9.Ensure recruitment of qualified personnel. Establish and maintain staff development so as to retain skilled labour and avoid high turnover.
10.Supervise generation and archiving of up to date records. Compile and generate monthly reports i.e. statistics reports, management reports and quality indicator review reports deriving from laboratory activities for reference in decision making by corporate management and also for epidemiological studies using available platforms.
11.Address any complaint, request or suggestion from staff and/or other laboratory users.
12.Provide guidance to procurement department on selection of laboratory suppliers of products and services.
