The successful candidate will actively engage in the following:
•Providing professional leadership and managing all resources, activities and operations of the organization effectively and efficiently, while reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO);
•At a strategic level, leading a team in the Shared Services business unit that provides overall support to the entire HSRC;
•Managing and providing professional support and advice to the HSRC Executive on operations and staff development;
•Building and maintaining a high performance team and culture within the Shared Services business unit, through effective performance management, communication and coaching/training of staff, and maintaining collaborative and effective working relationships throughout the organization, consistent with the HSRC’s values and code of ethics;
•Ensuring that human resources, information technology, legal services, operations and facilities processes and systems are managed in accordance with the HSRC’s business imperatives;
•Ensuring that research trainee initiatives as well as programmes for staff training are geared towards promoting the achievement of the HSRC’s imperatives;
•Promoting the development of staff through the introduction of relevant interventions to enable staff members to have a development plan;
•Strengthening the human resource function at both strategic and operational level.
•A relevant post-graduate degree qualification and good business acumen;
•Proven and demonstrable visionary leadership and management skills;
•Excellent interpersonal skills;
•Intellectual and personal integrity, imagination and drive;
•Enthusiasm for the HSRC's strong user-orientation and for internal and external collaborations;
•Demonstrated experience and skills in managing human resources, legal services, operations and IT;
•More than 10 years’ experience operating at a strategic level in a large organisation, similar to the HSRC;
•Experience in an environment that is similar to the regulatory environment in which the HSRC operates.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic team player who is well organised, goal oriented, possesses excellent time management skills and has the ability to develop strong working relationships coupled with dedication to outstanding service excellence.
