The Principal of Intec is responsible for the academic and operational leadership of the Intec brand


-Leads the financial - EBITDA and reputational well-being of Intec. Managing both the revenue and operational expenses
-Provides the institutional leadership and strategic direction for Intec.
-Leads a culture of continuous learning, intellectual enquiry and commercial acumen through academic, support and operational excellence.
-Leads the progression of “Intec’s value proposition” within the education sector, industry and society at large.
-Leads the mission to:
-incubate new business ideas
-diversify revenue streams
-advance new models of teaching and learning in education that move beyond traditional boundaries
-Develop sales and marketing strategies to increase student numbers with the Operations manager and Group Sales Manager.
-Ensure that the Intec is fully compliant with all its Accreditation requirements i.e. both Programmes and Site
-Ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning at all campuses in the Intec
-Ensure the Rollover and Retention ratios for all campuses in the brand are attained, and corrective actions plans implemented to address non-compliance thereto
-Ensure that all branches are always presentable i.e. well maintained, clean, everything working and all IT systems and equipment fully operational and functional
-Ensure the roll- out of the Learner Management System (LMS) throughout the Intec, within the Project timelines, and that thereafter its use is optimized in the Intec to enhance teaching & learning and support to students
•Ensure service levels to students are optimised and that the turnaround times to resolve issues raised by students is within the agreed parameters
•Manage and co-ordinate marketing activities at campus level and work closely with the H/O marketing team in this regard.
•Staff Management: interacting, coaching, recognizing superior performance and addressing substandard performance of team members.
•To ensure the highest quality of teaching and learning iniatives. This includes continuous assessments of Academic performance, working closely with committees and academic boards in H/O and the Academic department at H/O.
•Ensure that campus is fully compliant with all accreditation requirements from a statutory perspective.
•To ensure that rollover and retention ratios for the campus are attained, and corrective action plans put in place to address non-compliance thereto.

Hard Skills:
1. Minimum of an honours degree, preferably a Masters being advantageous
2. The General Manager must be a leader with a proven record in building positive relationships, operational governance, and managing finances.
3.Minimum 7-10 years leadership experience in an Academic environment in a Senior Management role
4. A clearly demonstrated entrepreneurial attitude and commitment to diversity and excellence are essential.
5. In addition, a leader who demonstrates:
-evidence of leadership in organisational and change management
-experience in designing and implementing new programmes and initiatives
-proven ability to lead a complex organisation while articulating a clear vision and goals for the future

The Four Key Areas:

Responsible for positioning Brand for the future and ensuring that ample resources, including money, faculty, students, and physical assets, are in place to fulfil that future. Drive the strategic imperative of improving the value and relevance of the type of education that Brand offers to students.

Promoter of appropriate direction for adapting to changing economic, demographic, political, and business environments.

Steward: Ultimate responsibility for growing and maintaining Brand’s reputation and assets, through protection of the School’s core assets, including its reputation, critical faculty, intellectual property, financial assets, student standards, and accreditation. The principal is ultimately responsible for ensuring the School is compliant with the regulations that govern them.

Operator: Oversees all the operational activities that drive the efficient delivery of education to students and growth in revenue for the company. The principal is also responsible for overseeing marketing efforts to prospective students as well as their recruitment to the school and their placement in valued jobs when they graduate.


-The Staff Experience: proactively lead staff in the effort to keep current through continuous professional development in appropriate skills, and thereby to be able to contribute to the learning of others.

-The Student Experience: employing a student-first concept to facilitate a culture that is conducive to the transformational experience of Brand students through academic, pastoral and operational excellence - developing great thinkers, rather than the best knowers.

-Learning Organisation: lead Brand’s role to create the environment and systems to allow staff to constantly learn and relearn.

-Provide strategic perspectives: to drive the purpose & overall relevance of Brand.

-Decision-making: innovatively practice data-driven decision-making within a complex social, political, and economic environment.

-Objectives: provide clarity on direction and priorities through ensuring visibility of all ideas, plans and outcomes.

-Integrated planning: convergent business-planning that includes academics, student services, and operations in all major decision-making to facilitate meaningful work and relationships through radical truthfulness and transparency.

-Budgets: foster a culture of business acumen and fiscal discipline for all staff, regardless of role.

-Partnerships: drive and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in higher education and industry to drive brand credibility and facilitate internships and student workplace opportunities.

-Expansion: leading the viability assessment and development of further Brand campuses in South Africa and abroad.

-Deliverables: clear delegations of responsibility to drive towards expected results without hesitation.
