Main purpose of the job
To lead the Faculty of Humanities by providing academic leadership; lead the development of innovative, demand-driven and relevant under- and post-graduate programmes; enhance student-centred learning; promote scholarship, research and innovation; and, develop partnerships with government, business/industry, other formal organs of society and the community at large; and ensuring sound financial management and enhance third stream income of the faculty.

Nature of appointment
Five-year Senior Manager performance-based contract
Candidates will be recruited and appointed in accordance with the Employment Equity and Affirmative Action Programmes of the Central University of Technology, Free State.

Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or
•PhD/Doctoral degree in the field of Humanities
•Registration with a professional body in the relevant field (if applicable)
•Should have obtained at least the rank of associate professor.
•Evidence of at least five (5) years’ leadership and management experience at middle and/or senior management level in higher education.
•A substantial track record of academic achievement and excellence in a disciplinary area of the faculty.
•Evidence of strong academic leadership in teaching, research and engagement.
•Proven experience of delivering against organisational and individual objectives.
•Proven experience of generating third-stream income.
•Experience of motivating and inspiring teams in delivering objectives.
Desired Qualification/ Knowledge And/Or Experience
•Attained the rank of professor.
•Evidence of at least eight (8) years’ leadership and management experience at middle and/or senior management level in higher education.
