Introduction
Job Purpose:

Managing the Bank's loans and advances portfolio in order to minimize loss and grow the portfolio through sustainable lending. Managing the Bank’s credit and market risk in the Treasury environment.

Specification
Key Responsibilities:

•Ensuring the Bank secures soundly based lending in line with the Bank’s business plans.
•Ensuring strategies, policies and procedures are current (in line with market and client expectations) by monitoring market trends.
•Assessing loan applications within own mandate.
•Creating the necessary structure and processes by allocating appropriate resources to Past Due and Non-performing portfolios collections.
•Overseeing accounting impairments and regulatory reporting for loans and advances.
•Overseeing credit and market risk management in the Treasury Middle Office, including regulatory reporting
•Ensuring policies and procedures are aligned to regulatory requirements by reviewing the policies in line with BASEL III and credit and market risk frameworks.
•Supporting and sharing information and knowledge by providing professional input into Executive Committee and Asset and Liability Committee.
•Chair of the Bank Credit Committee (weekly) and Deputy Chair of the Credit Risk and Monitoring Committee (monthly).
•Give feedback to stakeholders by presenting Cluster Credit Committee report, Board sub-committee credit reports and exceptional reports and returns on specific matters to shareholders and regulators.
•Keeping abreast with changes in the micro and macro-economic, political, legislative and social environment.

Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:

•Essential Qualifications: Relevant post-graduate qualifications (e.g. CA)
•The applicant must have ten (10) years banking Senior Manager experience, preferably in a credit environment.
•Must have an applicable professional qualification in Risk Management, Accounting, Finance or Auditing.
•The applicant must demonstrate knowledge of financial statements and the interpretation thereof.
•Developing a divisional strategy plan in conjunction with Executive Committee Team.
•The applicant must be knowledgeable of and experienced in the application of legislation applicable to Banks.
•The applicant must have strong knowledge of legal matters and practices within the context of the Namibian environment.
•Knowledge of the Bank’s policies and procedures.
•Namibian citizenship.
