Milpark is the higher education specialist for formal education in banking and is also gaining recognition in the investment arena. In the last 10 years, the School has touched the lives of more than 20 000 banking students. Milpark’s School of Investment and Banking has expanded and reviewed their offering so that they can now offer a range of qualifications from NQF level 5 through to NQF level 8 which provides options for school-leavers as well as those already employed at different levels in the sector.
The School works closely with both the big and the smaller banks as well as other institutions in the financial services sector in South Africa, and is also expanding its corporate client base in the rest of Africa in response to the skills demands of these markets. The lecturers have theoretical knowledge, practical experience and ties to the industry which allow for superior student support and a sharing of experiences. Recently, the School has expanded into the area of investment and is entering the industry by offering new qualifications and programs.

The general purpose of the lecturer role is to teach and assess students for specific modules that the lecturer is responsible for as the subject matter specialist. The teaching happens mainly via distance education modes using digital learning platforms and online live technologies, and selectively via learnerships or short-courses with face-to-face class interaction.
Would you be excited about the following tasks?
•Give input into the review and authoring process of learning and support material for assigned modules
•Manage the process of setting, reviewing, moderating and marking assessments (i.e. assignments, online-tests, exams, online participation etc.) on assigned modules
•Improve and ensure student motivation for assigned students/programmes and also on a continuous basis as a team effort for the School
•Track and manage student results (pass rates and throughput rates) on assigned programmes and modules
•Expand own expertise through attendance of networking events and conferences
•Assist in the delivery of special projects for example consulting to a bank/financial services company around specific customized training needs
•Recruit, train and performance manage part-time academic staff for assigned modules
•Potentially facilitate on a face-to-face basis or online
•Required: A relevant BCOM Honours/PGD or Masters in the fields of economics, banking, investment, accounting or similar required.
•Substantial industry experience in the banking industry at management or specialist level, ideally with credit and/or sales experience in retail banking (personal and business banking) and with some virtual banking experience (non-negotiable)
•1-3 years teaching experience at tertiary level (recommended)
