The IT Operator: Autoline is responsible for running computer operations as well as ensuring that the assigned computer systems and hardware are in good working order. The tasks include primarily maintaining work order schedules, inputting commands into computer terminals, performing routine maintenance and installing software updates.

Key deliverables and outputs

1.Participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server environment.
2.Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures.
3.Fascilitate server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
4.Monitor system performance.
5.Attend to daily operations for maintaining the system:
•Ensure day end starts at 22:00
•Log in at about 23:00 to ensure the End of Days (EODs) have completed
•Ensure previous day's end-of-day and backups completed successfully
•Correct any unsuccessful errors, including logging of calls to CDK and TCM
•Complete daily worksheets for recording of backup time and end of day completion times
•Perform password resets and changes
•Monitor disk space and file sizes
•Check on TCM daily reports for any errors
6.Attend to weekend operations for maintaining the system:
7.Perform special file maintenance that cannot be conducted during business operating hours.
8.Attend to monthly operations for maintaing the system:
•Before month-end check VSB files
•Check that monthly calendar for EOD is set up correctly
•Ensure all VSB companies have successfully rolled month end
•Attending to the creation, deletion and amendments of user access and priorities on the Autoline System and Unix back end, and ensuring all documentation is in place and audit compliant
9.Act as first point of contact in assisting users telephonically with ad hoc Autoline issues across all modules of Autoline.
10.Perform print manager server support and printer support for dealerships to ensure continuous printing.
11.Attend monthly meetings with TCM to enure continued operations.
12.Liase with OEMs for file transmissions of data required and technical setups that may be required.
13.Liase with internal IT teams to ensure smooth and continued operations.
14.Provide monthly management reports as required.
•Diploma or degree in IT
•3 – 4 years’ experience in IT with at least 2 years’ experience in an IT Operator or System Administrator-related role
•Solid understanding of IT concepts, terminology and standards
•Understanding and knowledge of ITIL
•Knowledge of service desk systems and IT service management principles and processes
