We have a first ever graduate programme in our Shipping team that has been carefully structured to give the successful candidate all the knowledge, technical skills and exposure to fast forward their career.

If you want to break new ground and have a curious mind, we invite you to become our first graduate trainee on a structured 18 month programme that will focus on the dynamic, challenging and ever changing world of Shipping.

PROGRAMME OUTLINE

As a Graduate you will be exposed to the following:

Open documentary letters of credit in line with UCP600 rules and or open account payments for all new import orders approved by the buying department in line with finance guidelines
Onboarding of new suppliers with the buying departments and forwarding agents
Liaise with import suppliers as well as clearing and forwarding agents to ensure all documentation is correctly verified before submitting to SARS, Customs.
Ensure that value for duty purposes is compliant with SARS regulations iro quantity, value, tariff and origin
Update all internal systems such as PLM - Inbound shipping module and liaise with finance to effect supplier payments.
Attend queries with external stakeholders such as clearing and forwarding agents, carriers and transporters to ensure the goods are moved in accordance with the inflow plan.
Coordinate and monitor the delivery of import containers with the control tower to the relevant Distribution Centre.
Monitor all shipping dashboards for exceptions and escalate to the relevant stakeholders
Assist with Customs Compliance iro deferment account recons
Assist with research and collation of elements affecting seasonal costing factors.
Develop relationships with internal customers to ensure a smooth and efficient On Time, In Full, supply chain for all import orders placed.
Remain up-to-date with SARS Rules and Regulations
Requirements
JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

A degree in the fields of Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehouse, International Trade, Economics, Business Management, Industrial Engineering
60% average
0 - 1 year working experience
Driver’s licence (advantageous)
Intermediate level of computer skills (Google Suite or Microsoft Office)
Competencies required: Analytical, systematic, detail orientated, assertive, driven, excellent communication and time management skills, good presentation skills, team player, can cope with periods of high stress and take initiative
