To carry out scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance of aircraft and related components in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to optimize availability and maximize operational safety of the aircraft through compliance and conformity to manufacturers’ specifications, standards and regulatory requirements

Plans and Performs timely quality maintenance, preventive maintenance and inspections to conform within company standards, regulation and industry best practices achieving the highest reliability goals.

Performance and release of aircraft maintenance and modifications according the prescriptions and regulations. Supervising and guiding assigned technicians and trainees

Carries our aircraft maintenance (scheduled and unscheduled) in accordance with laid down standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Troubleshoots faults, breakdowns and malfunctions and effects repairs as expeditiously and cost effectively without compromising aircraft safety and quality standards

Carries out ramp maintenance checks

Disassembles components to service and repair, using a range of diagnostic tools, specialist tools, workshop plant and equipment related to trade

Authorises the release of an aircraft on completion of maintenance. Guaranteeing that maintenance actions are performed, certified and recorded accurately.

Documents certification of pre and post flight checks. Identifies and highlights potential problems, spare requirements

Supervises maintenance planning, along with management oversight of inspections, repairs, and modifications, as assigned

Ensures JIT procurement of parts and materials and provides technical requirements (parts/supplies).

Assists the maintenance manager in obtaining vendor proposals for upcoming maintenance packages

Maintain effective working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and service providers by ensuring adherence to service level agreements and contractual requirements

Compile test results to produce status reports on airfield specialised systems

Troubleshoots reported mechanical discrepancies and handles complex technical challenges.

Maintain aircraft logbooks and permanent records are accurate and preserved in accordance with company and requirements.

Updates and interfaces with computerized maintenance tracking program

Conducting feasibility studies on capital replacement projects

Coordinate with contractors and consultants to deliver tasks according to project schedules

Research and establishment of contracts, publications, and subscriptions in support of the aircraft maintenance.

Works with Maintenance Manager to Conduct site inspections

Coordinate with line departments and/or contractors to compile documentation for audits

Keeps abreast with latest developments in aircraft maintenance and recommends initiatives that lead to process improvement by applying acquired knowledge, skills and best practise

Complies with standards, processes and procedures when carrying out assigned tasks and takes necessary remedial action or makes appropriate recommendations to rectify deviations

Oversees work in progress, checking quality, compliance with laid down operational procedures and timelines

Provides on-the-job training for subordinates though mentoring and coaching; Clarifies roles and accountabilities for subordinates

Directs the Junior Engineers and Technicians on compliance to Quality and Safety Management policies and procedures for the section and causes appropriate remedial action to be taken in case of deviation

Complies to Quality and Safety Management policies and procedures in all activities undertaken in order to minimize unsafe incidents and accidents.

Identifies cost containment measures and projects within the Section

Ensures that the department complies with all the Botswana and International regulations as stipulated in the CAAB CARS and technical standards as stipulated in CAAB CATS

Ensures that operation of aircrafts is in compliance with IOSA requirements

Formulates Scorecards, Monitors and report on business plan Performance

Takes corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of business objectives

Minimum Education Required

•A recognized Degree in Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent.

•Aviation qualification/ License Certification in B1/B2 License required.

Minimum Experience Required

•At least six (6) years’ post qualification experience six years in aviation maintenance out of which 3 years as B1/B2 ATR – 500 and 600 type and E170 - 100 certifying engineer in a in relevant aircraft maintenance environment

•License and company base maintenance approvals on the specific aircraft operated by Air Botswana (At least 6 months).
