The Systems Administrator provides technical support for the day to day operations of the organization’s ICT Broadcast environment through the provision of technical support and advice to users across multiple locations, platforms and technologies.

Position reporting to Head of Information Technology. Your key performance areas include:

-Supporting and assisting in all business Applications of eMedia business:
oVirtual Environment: VmWare
oMicrosoft: SCCM, Exchange, Active Directory, Server 2012 - 2016
oAdditional: Sage VIP (Payroll, ESS, HR)
oDatabase: SQL, Oracle
oStorage: Netapp, Compellent
oDesktop Environment: Windows, Linux, Office 365
-Installing new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
-Installing and configuring systems such as Asset Management applications.
-Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures.
-Contributing to and maintain system standards.

-Remediating any problem escalated efficiently.
-Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
-Performing regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
-Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
-Performing regular file archival and purge as necessary.
-Creating, changing, and deleting user accounts per request.
-Providing support per request from various constituencies.
-Investigating and troubleshooting issues.
-Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures.
-Coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies.
-Complying with approved asset procedure.

-Provision of 1st level operational support on to all Business applications.
-Providing 1st level support on other new applications.
-Providing 1st level support to integrated ICT systems.
-Analysing, enhancing and consolidating business requirements.
-Analysing current system processes and design functional requirements.
-Assisting in designing Project management planning and implementation.
-Assisting in business readiness processes to prepare organization in implementing new systems.
-Monitoring End-User training on process and system’s usage.

-Managing servers and networking equipment including installing, maintaining and upgrading of Linux and Microsoft Windows based servers and desktops
-Ensuring high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
-Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
-Maintaining backups and perform regular testing in compliance with the backup policy.
-Maintaining disaster recovery protocols and participate in regular testing.
-Analyse system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
-Quickly arranging repair for hardware in occasion of server hardware failure.
-Managing user accounts, resetting passwords
-Identifying areas for streamlining or improvement of processes, systems or networking and discuss with the Senior System Administrators.

-Providing solutions in a timeous and professional manner to users for support tickets raised.
-Escalating support tickets that cannot be resolved timeously to a more senior member of the team, along with any relevant information or suggestions.
-Providing good input and detailed diagnostics when escalating to senior staff members and management.
-Ensuring that all interactions with users, clients and vendors are professional and positive.

-Recording meaningful and detailed root cause as well as actions taken against logged calls.
-Ensuring routine processes are documented.
-Ensuring asset inventory is maintained

-Adhering to applicable information security procedures and policies as updated from time to time.
-Reporting any information security incidents or potential information security threats to Senior Systems Administrators.
-Taking a proactive approach to information security

A relevant Information Technology qualification
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience within a broadcast environment
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in managing Microsoft deployed systems
Knowledge of Networking technologies, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS
Knowledge of Microsoft products (OS + Applications such as SCCM, Exchange, SQL, etc)
Knowledge of Apple Mac hardware and software
Knowledge of Virtual Environments (VMWARE\HyperV\Xen)
Knowledge of databases and networking infrastructures
