Introduction
Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position. The position will be based in Western Cape. The individual will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: A regional management position is part of the management team responsible for growing the Network Growth, Network Management, and Customer Base Growth and Management.

The Growth Manager is the person in the regional management team responsible for expanding our fibre and wireless network footprint and potential customer base.

This role is absolutely crucial to Herotel’s ability to counter the FNO and meet long-term growth objectives in a sustainable high-quality manner.

The position is both strategic, commercial and operational in nature. The first strength of the role is to understand the commercial viability of growth opportunities in the region so as to lead the discussion on the prioritisation of opportunities.

The second strength of the role is to get approvals for the projects both internally (capital allocation) as well as for fibre, the public and municipal stakeholders (wayleaves, public permissions etc.)

The third strength is to lead the project kick-off to completion for fibre projects. This includes leading the planning and project management teams to complete preparation and build the networks.

Where necessary, the setup of local offices and the appointment of local teams also fall in the responsibilities of this role.

Specification

Key Responsibility Areas:

•Business planning - Together with the Regional Network and Commercial management roles, produce and maintain a 12-month rolling business plan against which commercial and operational activities are planned and executed.
•Commercial Opportunity Management - Lead the hub business planning discussion from a network expansion perspective. Scope and prioritize opportunities by considering all relevant factors e.g. size of the market, availability of transmission/backhaul, proximity to the operating base, and strength of competition.
•Drive the approvals process - Fibre committee approval. Municipal and regulatory approval
•Plan, organize, and activate projects - Ensure project and technical planning is complete and approved. Ensure the network production team is involved in and approves of the network. Appointment of Project and Site Managers. Appointment of subcontractors. Ordering of materials. Ordering of backhaul/transmission links. Site kick-offs with municipal and political stakeholders in town.
•Deliver completed build projects - Construction oversight. Deal with stakeholder issues. Deal with intrusion by other FNO / contractors to protect the project feasibility and the assets. Manage adherence to budget.
•Training of personnel - Direct responsibility to train his / her own HOD team to enable them to better discharge their responsibilities. Ensure all staff in the team is training on all SOP and other relevant topics.
•HSE - Direct responsibility for adherence to, and reporting on all HSE activities for the teams under management.
•Alignment and Standards - Within the scope of the fibre projects, ensure all staff members are aligned with the strategy, management systems, and culture which includes all standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills: -
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in internet networks
•Experience developing business opportunities
•Experience in managing sub-contractors
•Creating and managing CAPEX and OPEX budgets
•Managing large teams in network-related functions
•Strong communication skills
•Experience dealing with municipalities are preferable

•Qualification in networks (fibre or wireless) would be advantageous
