The purpose of the role is to drive the digital transformation at Letshego by building, fostering and maintaining leading edge engineering practices.

Provides direct day to day architectural and technology problem-solving, coaching, direction and guidance to product teams in a start-up like environment

Establishes and provide direct assistance for teams with product roadmap strategy

Evaluates and identifies appropriate technology stacks and platforms, including web application frameworks and cloud providers

Guides and coaches on agile techniques and ways of working to help improve teams and software development process

Establishes and coach teams on performance, quality and security conventions and standards

Provides guidance and insight to product teams to establish governance processes, direction and control to ensure objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately for product development

Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices

Partners with wider Letshego team and Carnival IT to ensure compliance with SOX, regulatory and audit requirements where applicable

Analyses the technology currently being used and develops plans and processes for improvement and expansion

Uses configuration management software to automatically deploy updates and fixes into the production environment

Designs the overall technological architecture of the product with the help of the team

Guides project teams on technology strategy related to coding practices, continuous integration and automated deployment

Thought partners with the Product owner in story creation and acceptance criteria, and communicate tradeoffs effectively with designers

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Digital or similar field

MBA or similar business-related master's degree would be an added advantage

Certification in Architect, AWS Architect or in similar field preferred

At least 7 years in senior engineering roles working with product development teams, delivering and building digital products

A wide experience and understanding of architecture in terms of solution, data and integration

Experience with infrastructure automation and application containerization

Extensive experience working with teams using DevOps and continuous delivery with focus on delivering rapid customer value

Familiarity with information security vulnerabilities and risk management
