Reporting to the Head of Legal& Company Secretary , the Legal Officer will be responsible for monitoring the company’s legal affairs, ensuring that they remain in compliance with all laws and regulations concerning their field.
Key Performance Areas;
1.Preparation, review, monitoring and management of contracts and SLAs
2.Compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements and BOL policies
3.Provision of other legal advice and services
4.Liaise with BOL External Counsel
5.Adherence to deadlines
1. Minimum of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university plus admission to practice in the Courts of Botswana.
2. Membership in good standing of the Law Society of Botswana is essential
1. At least four (4) years post qualification working experience in the legal department of a reputable large public/private organization with at
least 2 years corporate experience gained at senior level.
1.Understanding of commercial law including legal and regulatory framework governing the regulation of corporate entities
2.Ability to develop proposals, prepare Board minutes and papers, position papers and other legal reports
3.Ability to organize and oversee work processes efficiently to achieve quality results
4.Maintain confidentiality of information obtained in the course of work
5.Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6.Excellent interpersonal relations
7.Legal drafting and negotiation skills
8.Proficiency in computer applications.
