Barberton Mines first produced gold in 1886. The mining complex now comprises three mines: Fairview, New Consort and Sheba.

Purpose of the job:
Will support the Management Accountant to ensure that financial reports to both internal and external users accurately reflect the financial position of the company.

Main Role Outcomes:

•Monitoring spending and financial control to ensure that spending is kept in line with the budgets set by Barberton Mines;
•Assist to analyze and interpret the financial information and provide feedback to non-financial managers;
•Assist to report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances;
•Assist to identify trends and opportunities for improvement;
•Assist in the compilation of the annual financial budgets for Barberton Mines;
•Assist in the completion of monthly financial reconciliations;
•Assist in the completion of the monthly management report;
•Perform ad-hoc duties on a daily basis as required by the Management Accountant of Barberton Mines.

Minimum Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree - major in Accounting (Essential);
•Studying towards CIMA would be an advantage;
•Minimum 3 years relevant working experience, preferable in a Mining environment;
•Understanding of current accounting principles;
•Good math’s and computer skills;
•Proficient in Excel and previous ERP system experience (Essential);
•Attention to detail and the ability to work logically, consistently and accurately;
•Good English communication- and presentation skills.
