Introduction
The University of Namibia is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the vacant Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer: Sociology position in the Department of Sociology, Windhoek Main Campus.

Specification
Lecturing of Sociology courses at both undergraduate and advanced postgraduate levels. Applicants must have knowledge of African/Sub-Saharan African societies in addition to good knowledge of current international developments in the field of Sociology. Must be highly experienced in the supervision of postgraduate students up to PHD level, as well as contributing to undergraduate research capacity building. Experience in teaching and supervision in the sociology of Gender will be strong advantage. The Associate Professor will engage in substantial research and publication activities, and perform any other duties as may be required.
Requirements
A PhD in Sociology including a distinguished record of lecturing, research and publication in the field of Sociology, as well as satisfactory service to the academic and wider community. A postdoctoral qualification would be a further advantage. the candidate should have a provable minimum of 24 publications for Associate Professor and 8 publications for a Senior Lecturer in the form of referred peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters and books. A full CV clearly stating all publications must be submitted with the application for this post. Successful candidates may be requested to provide copies of their qualifications.
