Specification
The incumbent would be required to set up guests who offer alternate voices to the stories we cover on the channel. They are required to think outside the box when pursuing guests. The guest booker is required to produce a data base and continue to build on this. The role forms part of the Output desk and decisions should be made in conjunction with the Programme Editors.

Reporting to the Programme Editors, the key performance areas include:

1.Research
-Maintaining a well-rounded knowledge base of current affairs and international news by digesting news regularly.
-Researching and introducing new expert voices on the channel.
-Providing detailed research with a minimum of five suggested questions for anchors.
-Broadening contact base by developing networks with key stakeholders in the industry.
-Selecting relevant and appropriate guests for particular topics/issues.

2.Technical
-Liaising with visitors and other stakeholders via telephone and email correspondence by using excellent telephone and written etiquette.
-Maintaining relationships both internal to the business as well as fostering networks.
-Welcoming and receiving guests by ensuring receipt is prompt and professional at all times.
-Understanding of newsroom operating systems to continuously update the database

3.Planning and Coordinating
-Writing a comprehensive introduction to topics and discussions
-Conducting pre-interviews to determine suitability of guests and their point of view.
-Presenting information packs to anchors.
-Ensure that overlay is cut to accompany each interview.

Requirements
A relevant Journalism or Television qualification
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a similar role
