Introduction
The Night Supervisor will accept full and overall accountability for the hospital at night ensuring a safe environment for all patients, staff and stakeholders. The incumbent will assume responsibility for all reasonable operational activities in the absence of other Managers ensuring that all Company policies and procedures, and all legal requirements, are adhered to. Accordingly, the incumbent will be accountable for capacity development, mentoring and training of night staff.

Specification
•Perform nursing duties in accordance with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), Department of Health (DOH) and National Core Standards.
•Adhere to the principles and standards of patient advocacy according to the SANC acts and Omissions, Company Code of Conduct, patient rights and Responsibility charter, National Millennium Development goals and the responsibility of continuous professional development (CPD).
•Devise a working knowledge of and understand the nursing strategy in order to drive the strategic Nursing agenda and align night staff outputs accordingly.
•Assess patient acuity at all wards during the night and determine resource needs for the following day.
•Monitor the safety and care delivered by staff, including agency staff, and identify quality improvement opportunities.
•Collaborate with Nursing Manager and Unit Managers in implementing actions to improve quality service delivery at night.
•Conduct hospital ward rounds to ensure compliance with protocols, security, safety of patients, adherence to policies and procedures, all to promote a positive patient and customer experience.
•Support the Nursing Services Manager and Unit Manager in controlling budget expenditure, by ensuring nursing resource spend in line with budget, patient care and actual activities.
Requirements
•Nursing degree/Diploma.
•Current registration with South African Nursing Council.
•BLS qualification.
•Further management or business-related qualification advantageous.
•3+ years’ experience at managerial/supervisory level.
•Experience in a private hospital environment advantageous.
