Assisting the adequacy of procedures, systems and controls associated with vehicle, plant, equipment and material availability and utilization. Approving and/or verifying adjustments or amendments to operating, administrative and/or reporting sequences/practices at the Depots. In order to ensure that laid down procedures and guidelines associated with the operation of Depots are implemented, deviations promptly attended to and corrected to enable compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Monitoring/reviewing capital and operating expenditure of the Section and implementing various checks and balances with a view to identifying, investigating, and notifying the immediate superior/line manager of variances and outcomes. Participating as a member in the Specification and Bid Evaluation committees and making recommendation on costs and suitability of service providers. Participate in asset management process by providing information during stock taking audits in terms of legislations and policies. In order to ensure that accurate estimates are prepared in relation to requirements enabling the department to contribute positively toward meeting objectives and sustaining the quality and standards of service delivery.
National Diploma in Horticulture, Code B Drivers’ license. Computer literacy (MS Office Applications). Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages (English, IsiXhosa and Afrikaans) of the Western Cape. Good supervisory, human relations, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to give attention to detail. High level of responsibility. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to handle conflict.
