GM: IAAS is accountable for the IT Infrastructure vision, strategy and value realization management for Blue Label Telecoms Group with attention to the infrastructure evolution towards cloud capabilities and convergence of infrastructure for IT and network workloads. The role is responsible for defining the target infrastructure landscape, articulate the roadmap and oversee the delivery plans to support business processes and services across the enterprise through the effective leadership and orchestration of people, products, partners and relevant processes. Key area of focus is the development of robust relationships with all the relevant stakeholders to support the transformation agenda across the various Business units.

Strategy Planning
Sets the Infrastructure mission and vision to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset.
Leads the development of the IT infrastructure technology and data centre strategy and associated execution roadmap.
Owns the creation and execution of the digital workplace strategy including collaboration, automation, service and asset management.
Provides strategic direction, guidance and oversight for the infrastructure architecture, engineering and operations (including capacity planning) activities.
Champion and lead the DC strategy, operating model and governance to manage DC investment decisions as well as existing asset optimization plan across Group.
Works closely with Supply Chain Management / Procurement towards the appropriate sourcing strategy, supports cost optimization and license agreement initiatives and runs the strategic vendor and partner relationship management
for key providers.

Strategy Execution
Oversees Infrastructure Capex and Opex across Group.
Enables innovation and seeks to leverage the relevant technology trends (e.g. Robotic Process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), blockchain, edge computing) that can create value consistent with the strategic goals of the Business.
Collaborates extensively with Cyber Security to enable the successful delivery of the Cyber Security agenda.
Provides implementation leadership working with the Technology teams in Group and subsidiaries on the plans and the governance required to prioritize resources (including budget), optimize returns on investments (e.g. via automation, cost optimization and quality management) and ensure the delivery of the agreed outcomes.

Infrastructure and Vendor Management
Maintain the portfolio of the approved infrastructure partners.
Deliver and oversee the operation of on-premise virtualized infrastructure to host IT workloads.
Deliver relevant policies (from drafting through the approval process) and oversee the application across Group.
Manage the IT requirements of Manco (e.g. hardware infrastructure, end user computing, collaboration and office environment and others).
Manage and evolve the operating model to be aligned with continuous evolution in the Business needs and way of working.
Drive the development and adoption of standards relevant to the on-premise infrastructure across the organization.
Work with HR and the IT leadership team to manage the IT Infrastructure talent within the organization for current and future needs.
Analyse and provide recommendations on global employee cost factors.

Efficiency and Effectiveness
Ensure availability of necessary infrastructure and up time to support business and operation needs.
Establish and measure IT performance relative to cost, value creation and customer satisfaction in the key areas of operating systems and network management.
Lead and coordinate installation, support, and maintenance of our information technology infrastructure (i.e. operating systems, networks, telecommunications).
Identifying and evaluating inefficiencies and recommending optimal business practices, and system functionality and behavior.
Optimize our return on our IT investment by acquiring cost-justified IT components, as measured by performance, support availability, price, upgradeability, and future industry trends.
Protect the company and its operations against IT risks, including unauthorized access to information, data integrity problems, loss of processing capability, and poor service levels.

Enforces all infrasec and infosec policies as set by the Cyber Security Executive.
Owns and drives departmental oversight with steercos.
Provides monthly updates to report packs for technology, subsidiary and group.
Exco's including financial value and delivery tracking.
Accountable to manage all costs associated with the allocated portion of the approved technology budget.

Transitions team's skillset with the support of the Human Capital Business.
Partner to enable and support platform and tool adoption per the departmental roadmap in line with strategies defined with CTO.
Through effective inspirational leadership, facilitate the creation of accountable, full service teams who understand and strive to meet the needs of all stakeholders.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Engineering.
MBA / Masters advantageous.


Minimum 10 years’ experience.
Minimum 6 – 10 years of Senior Management Experience.
Minimum 5 years of Technology Infrastructure experience.
Process Digitisation experience would advantageous.
Experience in drafting policies.
Proven track record of business improvement.
