The Aurum Institute is offering a great opportunity to suitably qualified and experienced staff to contribute towards our mission to improve the health of people and communities through innovation in Health Research and Systems. We are focused on research, support and implementing integrated approaches to managing TB and HIV. The following positions have become available as part of the various projects currently being run by us and you are welcome to apply should you meet the requirements of the position.

The Epidemiologist (MDR-TB) is responsible for supporting the Drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) programme at the National Department of Health (NDoH), with a focus on analysing programmatic data, assisting with data audits to inform programme performance, work with the NDoH to generate manuscripts or other dissemination outputs, development of reference materials and any ad hoc requests made by the head of the DR-TB programme.

Technical Work Responsibilities
Liaison with Stakeholders
Oversee and assist with the analysis of Programme Data as required
Assist with data monitoring remotely or at designated sites
Develop and support the implementation of M&E activities
Work with NDoH to develop dissemination outputs
Assist with any ad hoc requests made by the NDoH
An applicable Master's degree (MSc or MPH) in a quantitative field such as epidemiology or biostatistics

Previous experience in tuberculosis projects/programmes (drug-sensitive or drug-resistant)
Registered or completed PhD
Previous experience working with Department of Health

Four or more years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
At least three years of experience with analysing data
Intermediate proficiency with at least one statistical software package (e.g. Stata, R, SPSS, SAS)
Basic knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks
Evidence of publications (at least one in a peer-reviewed journal)

Proficient personal computer skills
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Evidence of experience with developing and delivering scientific presentations
SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
Drivers Licence
Own car
Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
Willing to work overtime
