An opportunity has arisen for Facility Based Counsellors based in the West Coast District
Job Function to provide Counselling
Technical Work Responsibilities
HCT services using ACTS/PICT model for new clients seeking HIV testing per day
Adherence and follow up counselling
Paediatric/adolescent/adult work up and treatment readiness
Intervention with struggling/defaulting clients
Group facilitation for club activities
Health education and information (group based) on HIV/STI/TB and ART related issues in the waiting rooms of the clinics and/or at community level.
High school diploma / Gr 12 or equivalent
Basic counselling skills certificate (NQF Level 4 or equivalent)
At least 2 years counselling experience
Previous work experience in counselling is highly advantageous
Proficient in both English & Afrikaans
Proficient in Xhosa or other languages will be an advantage
Ability to function under pressure
Good interpersonal skills
Basic administrative and time management skills
Knowledge of clinic/facility rules and regulations
Knowledge of the geographical area
Good knowledge of HIV & AIDS/STI/TB a well as Treatment Adherence
Knowledge of public health and community resources
