Introduction
Main purpose of the job
To strategically lead and manage the overall building maintenance of CUT buildings, facilities and assets at Bloemfontein and Welkom campuses. To plan and implement all infrastructure and related projects.

Main tasks
1. Develop strategies for University Infrastructure, maintenance, and logistics
2. Maintain and update campus master plans
3. Develop appropriate policies and procedures for the unit, in line with the University’s strategy
4. Manage and monitor the provision of building and facilities maintenance for the university
5. Manage projects
6. Manage and monitor suppliers and sub-contractors
7. Manage the performance and development of staff
8. Development of a budget for the section
9. Provide reports
10. Represent the unit internally at different forums
11. Manage infrastructure expansion
12. Manage and monitor CUT Protection Services

Requirements
Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or Experience

Candidates will be recruited and appointed in accordance with the Employment Equity and Affirmative Action Programmes of the Central University of Technology, Free State.

Minimum Qualification

•Master’s degree (e.g. M Sc / M Tech / M Eng) with a relevant degree in Built Environment (specifically Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Project Management), Civil Engineering, or Engineering Management
OR
•An MBA or similar qualification at master’s level with a BSc (Honours) / B Tech in Built Environment (specifically Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Project Management),a B. Eng / B Tech in Civil Engineering or Engineering Management

Minimum Knowledge and Experience
•8 years’ experience in managing building construction projects, building maintenance, facilities and asset management, infrastructure planning, with 4 years’ people management experience
•Valid driver’s license
•Comprehensive working knowledge of CUT policies and procedures
•Comprehensive working knowledge of a range of legislation impacting on the University e.g. LRA, BBBEE, BCE, OHS Act
•Building and construction codes and regulations
•Sound knowledge in areas of Estates and Facilities management

Desired Qualification/ Knowledge & Experience

•Master’s degree in Built Environment (e.g MSc Built Environment or MTech Construction Management), Civil Engineering or Engineering Management with anEstate and Infrastructure Management qualification
•Professional registration with built environment statutory councils such as SACPCMP (Pr. CM or Pr. CPM), SACQSP (Pr. QS), ECSA (Pr. Eng. or Pr. Tech Eng.)
•10 years’ experience in Estates and Facilities management, with 5 years’ people management experience
