BDO South Africa has a vacancy for an Accountant to join our internal Finance Department for a 12 month fixed-term contract.

Specification
The main responsibilities of the accountant is to process data to balance sheet level supported by the preparation of accurate reconciliations. Computing and submission of VAT returns.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•Processing financial data to balance sheet
•Preparing accurate reconciliations to support the balance sheet
•Ensuring compliance to accurate financial data recording for all assigned business units
•Maintenance of the fixed asset register for all group companies
•Timeous submission of monthly statutory returns
•Processing monthly general journals
•Preparation of audit files
•Reconciliation of intercompany loan accounts
Requirements
Qualifications:
•BCom / BCom Hons Accounting / Finance or similar is essential

Experience and Knowledge:
•3-5 years’ experience working in an internal finance department
•Relevant legislation
•In-depth and up to date with accounting standards

Technical Competencies:
•Accurate and detail orientated
•Proficient using Microsoft excel
•Analytical
•Experience with Maconomy (advantageous)

•Good oral and written communication skills
