The Senior Accountant is on a Supervisory level and is responsible for the maintenance of the Accounting Systems used in the Regional council.
Job Functions Accounting

•Preparation of the Annual Plans for the Division and monthly Management Reports.
•Ensure that procedures and processes relevant to the Division are adhered to.
•Supervise subordinates.
•In charge of salary administration and creditors of the Council.
•Check all salary payments of all officials of the Council.
•Responsible for the checking and controlling of all payments done by the Accountant and Assistant Accountants.
•Ensure that the provisions of the Finance Act, Treasury Instructions, Budgetary Instructions and regulations and instructions of the Regional Tender Board have been complied with.
•Give on-the-job training to subordinates.
•Responsible for the up-to-date procedures relating to salaries.
•Responsible for all salary enquiries from officials.
•Verify detailed reconciliation statements.
•Check Master Fault List.
•Carry out Financial inspections to the sub-receivers of revenue at the Settlements and Constituency Offices.
•Balance and reconciliation of Cashbooks and Journals.
•Do Tax reconciliation on monthly basis.
•Passing of journal entries.
•Checking of banking sheet before money is deposited.
•Receiving and signing of all salary advices from the Human Resources Division.
•Verifying the pension contribution list to GIPF.
•Certify correct S & T advances and claims calculations before payment.
•Certify correct batch printouts of income and expenditure on daily basis.
•Check salary Journals.
An appropriate Diploma on NQF L6 majoring in accounting plus four (4) years of experience in the Accounting field.

Added advantages: Knowledge of pastel evolution, Sage Payroll (Certificate must be attached) Computer literacy, budget preparation, budget control and monitoring, revenue administration, accounts payable, travelling and subsistence allowances, accounts reconciliation and application of all module of the financial systems.
